Thanks for including my novel, THE BAD BEHAVIOR OF BELLE CANTRELL in your Southern reading and historical challenge. The book took me three years to write, so your including it means a great deal to me. Besides, we can all enjoy a little bad behavior from time to time.
Ooh... cool challenge... Wish I had more time to read, like I used to.

Marianne - well...we'll see how it goes. I might be a bit too ambitious. :) These challenges are making me read more - I've been watching much less TLC and HGTV! :)
I just re-read the post and realize that it should be 8 books and that there should be 8 sections! Argh! I think I read too fast for my brain sometimes. I'm still going to contemplate this challenge!

Callista - I've seen that one around, for some reason I thought my TBR list wasn't very well qualified for it, but I guess I was wrong.

This challenge looks like a really good one - your lists are, well, super. You might have to give up eating . . . or sleeping. I might just have to read the ones you picked for the "Southern" section -great selections.
Vi - thanks! Well, they're not as good as some people who are doing Pulitzers and Bookers, but they work for me. I have TONS of Southern on my TBR list, this isn't even all of them!
And I really have stopped watching so much mindless TV, which helps with reading time. Not *good* TV, of course, but not quite so much total vegging out.
