Themed Reading Challenge Wrap-Up

Finished, hooray! My theme was books about sisters. I have to say, not as interesting as my theme last year, which was vampires. I just didn't seem to have enough books with a cool theme in my to-read list this time. Still, thanks to Wendy for hosting it again, it's a great idea - I just need to pick a better theme next year!

1.
Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas
2. The House at Riverton by Kate Morton
3. Bewitching Season by Marissa Doyle
4.
The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O'Farrell

Given that I have no siblings, I was probably missing a big chunk of what you need to appreciate books about sisters! But it was still interesting to read about their relationships - some made me wish I had a sister, some made me glad I don't!

The House at Riverton was my favourite, followed by The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox.

What a great theme! I've recently read a few books with sisters - Garden Spells (you've read already), The Sister by Poppy Adams, which I really liked, and I am just about done Clara Callen. Have you read that one? It fits my theme of epistolary books too. It won the Giller in 2001, and it set during the 1930s.

I'll be looking for those top two books.

I read Clara Callan a few years ago and enjoyed it. I didn't count it for the Themed Challenge, but The Almost Archer Sisters was a good, lighter Can Lit book about sisters. I haven't heard of The Sister, I'll have to check it out. I have a soft spot for the name Poppy, it's so cute. :)

I don't have siblings either! It's only as I get older that I wish I did :)

Cool theme even it was difficult to find books.

Congrats on finishing. I just barely made it.

Stacy - Yeah, me too. I occasionally wished I had an older brother when I was a kid, but was overall pretty glad to be an only. I still am, for the most part, but it would be nice to have someone else in the family.

Beth - Thanks! And congrats to you, too! Sometimes these challenges really come down to the wire.
